"26.2 Miles For Dad & For the Cure!" Welcome to Adine Bagheri's Pledge Page for Team in Training!

-Things have been extremely busy since my return from the San Diego marathon! BUT I am happy to announce that since September 15th I have been working at the North Texas Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It is so crazy (& wonderful) how things work out. I now recall a visit to the hospital when my dad told me, "Adine, no matter how bad something seems, there is always something good that comes from it." I remember sitting on the edge of his hospital bed looking at his pale, weightless body not being able to grasp this concept two weeks before his death. But here I am working at the Leukemia Society, helping people and giving back. DAD--I hope you are looking down and seeing all the good that came from such an awful thing that you stuggled with and that touched our family! AND although we are not glad that you got Leukemia, we have become a better family because of it. (you always tried to tell us this and we never understood) No matter how much I miss you, or how lonely it gets, I will always try to see the good that came from Leukemia and the better family we are because of it. We all get it now! I am thankful you touched my life for 23 amazing years! Thanks Dad!

-THANKS to everyone who supported me on my first journey--It is because of you that I crossed the finish line for DAD and all the honored heroes that were counting on me! If you would like to continue to support me I will be participating in the Dallas White Rock Marathon on December 14, 2003 (I will be doing a 5 person Relay) and the Arizona Rock 'N Roll Marathon on January 11, 2004 (I will be doing the 1/2 Marathon). Only this time it will be in my fathers memory!

-We lost my father on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 to his courageous battle to cancer. For more information read my diary entries from May 14-17.

Dear Family & Friends,

Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. On November 5, 2002 this statistic became a reality for my family when MY DAD, Ali Bagheri, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), an aggressive cancer of the blood. Since his diagnosis, my dad has been in and out of the hospital and is still undergoing chemotherapy. Many of you have asked me over the last few months how you can help, and I have not had an answer - until now!

I have joined Team in Training, the world's largest sports & endurance training program, in a nationwide effort to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am training to racewalk the Suzuki Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon in San Diego, CA on June 1, 2003. Yes, that’s 26.2 REALLY LONG MILES!

Along with my training, I have set a fundraising goal of $4,000. This money will go towards research, patient services and education for leukemia and other blood-related cancers. With the help of good folks like you, our program raised over $73 million dollars last year!

With this said, I will not only appreciate your much needed prayers and encouragement for my training, but also your donations (however large or small) to help in the fight for a cure. Please look over this site for more information!

Thanks for visiting my website and feel free to pass the link on to your friends, co-workers and family!

With lots of love & appreciation,
Adine Bagheri
